What is it with the Republican-led Congress? They really don't want businesses to have to give you insurance.
In 2008 Congress passed a law stating that you cannot be discriminated against based on your DNA. In other words, businesses can't offer Health Insurance benefits, and then take them away because of your DNA. Up until now. HR 1313 explicitly says that GINA doesn't apply to businesses, and would allow them to coerce you to give up your DNA for testing or risk paying a penalty of thousands of dollars. Then, it prohibits any discrimination charge based on the GINA law. The bill was approved on Wednesday by the committee considering it...22 Republicans for, 17 Democrats against. Trump's not the only one who can be painfully sneaky. TrumpCare is getting all the headlines. At this point the Republicans clearly do not feel that it's going to make it. It would seem that they're willing to lose that particular battle, as long as they get lots of little digs like this in. Once again, to anyone who feels that the current administration is "doing their job" or "fighting for the little guy", I ask you: how is this helping the little guy?
