What I really meant was...

One really has to hand it to Trump: the man knows when he's beaten.

He made outrageous claims about how effective he was going to be in his first 100 days. However, the reality of his record is somewhat different.

So, what does he do?  (In harmony now...) He blames the Media for making up the whole 100 day thing.

The only thing is, as a candidate, and now as president, his words are recorded, written, analyzed and scrutinized in a way that the conman-Trump's words before never were.

He is, in effect, fighting himself of just a few months ago.  We're less than 100 days into his administration, and he's had to eat more humble pie than even his most ardent detractor could hope for...but here he comes again.
